Listen Feel Calm Free Rest

Purpose, Intention

Give students the opportunity to detach from daily life for the duration of this session. Let them first rest, calmly breathe and listen to what the mind says today and then go on with movements.
The audience is of mixed structure. People who know each other for years, others (like tourists) newbies to embodiment, movement at all. Hence no trust yet established, not going into deep.

Phase Listen, Feel (duration about 12 min)

Let students arrive (sitting or standing, with eyes closed) by playing emotional classic music (instrumental versions of Opera arias).

·        Breathe long, slow in- and exhales, eventually try in, in, long exhale

·        Listen to music and feel the beat, the emotions of it hitting.

·        Explore what kinds of thoughts come up (negative, positive ones, sadness, joy, etc.)

Halt for at least one minute in silence after the last play, currently “E lucevan le Stelle”.
Standing, sitting, or laying on the floor.

Phase Calm, Free (duration about 60 min)

Instruct body over mind. Let go from thoughts what movement to do next Just let the body go!

Imagine you have just fallen down to earth as human being, laying there and now try to explore your body how it can move. Start with very small movements, like fingers etc. etc.

Halt from time to time. Walk, wait, walk, wait, walk, wait in front of each other (eyes closed, feel the energy, gaze, slowly open the eyes, greet, ev. hug).

Phase currently ends with “What a wonderful World” (Louis Armstrong)

Rest (duration about 10 min)

Instruct to slowly come to laying (shavasana pose) or meditation sitting.
Rest body and mind!
